I am in an office setting with four computers.
We are using Microsoft Outlook Express 6

My co-worker tried to send an email to a particular business, but he got it returned saying
"Post Master - Undeliverable Mail" and
"Unknow user: gave the email address"

I sent it to the same address, and mine did not get returned. We called the business; they said they never had that problem before.

Any idea why sending an email, to the same email address, would be delivered by one one computer and not the other?

Thank you for your Help and Ideas,
Miranda

Are both computers using the same smtp server? If not, that may be the problem. If they are using the same smtp, can the other person send e-mail to other places?

If this doesn't yield results, post back the entire error given on one of the returned e-mails.

Matt J.

I checked the both computers and they are using the same smtp server.

Yes, he can send emails to other places.

The returned email:

Who's server is returning the mail? Yours or theirs? It sounds like he's just mistyped the address or something.

Chris.

I agree, seems to be something with the way e-mails are leaving that mail client, possibly user error.

Do you have another mail client you could configure and try on that machine, either the full outlook, or maybe netscape mail even?

There is one sever in which mail is received, and one server where mail is sent.

I am not sure whose sever is returning the mail. How can I check?

One of the emails that were sent by my co-worker was "reply" email, and it got returned, saying undeliverable.

My Co-worker said he could email this place before (a few months ago), but since then he gets the emails returned. He can receive emails from them, just can't send them emails.

What's the domain that you are sending to?

Chris.

Does this ONLY happen when he clicks reply? Does it happen if he types an e-mail from scratch?
