Is anyone here proficient in Powerquest's V2i Protector?

I have been evaluating and using version 2 for a few months.
It works ok except for supporting Dell servers that run Dell Open Manager (most of the older ones do).
Powerquest technical support and sales team stance is that they don't support Dell Open Manager systems and won't until version 3 due in 2004.
As all our servers are Dell running Open Manger we will most likely not use it anymore.

MajorT, I would check Acronis trueimage from Works similar to V2i, but is more steady in terms of working with other filter level drivers.

Has anyone put V2I Server Edition on a W2K Server that was also the primary AD controller?

I was trying to use V2i protector on a windows server 2003 domain controller (and thus primary AD controller) and after lots of attempts, errors and wasted time, I eventually got this from Symantech support.

V2i Protector Server Edition does not support Domain Controllers because of the additional security roles these machines play and the fact that there is no equivalent to the Microsoft SysPrep Tool available from Microsoft. In addition, I don't think that Microsoft supports imaging DC's either.

Not sure it helps but thought you might like to know.

Does the product at come with a recovery disc that I can bootup with to get into the recover console to restory my system?

I was using PowerQuest V2i Protector Desktop Edition, and I'm having problems getting it to recognize my drive, and I'm not paying $31.00 per phone call for support.

I'm looking for another product that I can rely on to restore my system if it ever crashes from a virus, or whatever. Any feedback would be appreciated.
