I have a client with a V1280 onsite and it is having boot problems. Below is the message it is returning, I am wonder if the fix from thread518-861673 will also fix this issue, or is that only for a V240

are you sure you want to boot from cdrom?

{0} ok boot /ssm@0,0/pci@18,700000/ide@3/cdrom@0,0:f

That is the path they are telling me the system is given them. They should be able to set-defaults and do a boot cdrom -s, correct. They are claiming that this is the error they recieve when trying to booting from the drive or cd.

sorry for the delay: I suggest to doublecheck the OS Version you are trying to boot from. Is the CD/DVD a supported version for V240?

* Solaris 10 beginning with release 03/05
* Solaris 9 beginning with release 12/03
* Solaris 8 beginning with release HW 07/03. Requires mandatory patch 109885-15

did this system ever boot/work from disk?

The machine is not a V240 it is a V1280. The OS they are attempting to boot with is 9. No, the machine has not worked thus far.

sorry, read wrong line...

I suggest to boot from ether another CD-Drive (if possible) and from another media (easy to change).

Do you know the EXACT VErsion of Solaris 9 (-> more /etc/release)? Or CD imprint?

Best Regards, Franz
