UX5000....why are so many of the documented options hidden/missing ? Is it a licensing issue? 1

I've recently inherited command of a venerable but operational UX5000.
I keep trying to find certain features that are documented, but in the WebPro interface many of them are missing.
For example, in section 21-xx, I only have 21-07 and 21-14.

At the moment what I'm trying to solve is that International calls seem to be blocked, system-wide.
I seem to have located some programming options to allow it, but since the relevant sections are missing, I'm stumped.

Many thanks in advance for any clues :)

I got to the 90 programming mode from a handset, but mode 02 is missing. Presumably I need a valid (IN) level pw ?

There's no record of an IN login and the previous service provider is long gone.

Is there a non-destructive method to reset that login? I've tried 1234,12345,123456,1234567,12345678....no dice so far.

First I would verify it's not the carrier restricting international. Easiest way if the default passwords are changed, and usually are, is to download the database and access the password via UX5000 PCPro. Depending on how big the system is and what you are doing reprogramming isn't that big a deal usually for a trained tech.

I did check with the carrier, and they say there is no international blocking in effect on our lines.

Any chance you can throw me another bone? I have managed to get the software running and connected, but I don't see a way to pull the whole DB at once in a single " DB file ", like I suspected you might be referring to. Also, when I try to modify any user information in PCPro I can only see users 3 thru 8; the first 2 are hidden from me and I can't modify them. I assume that's because I have to authenticate just to connect in the first place, and immediately the account limitations kick in. My acct is an SA

Not sure how I'd access the information you're referring to without digging into some sort of raw file, and I don't seem to be finding where said file would end up.

I guess I could bite the bullet and reprogram it. We don't have all that much going on, just 30 phones.

Still, if I can avoid the hassle I'd be willing to reciprocate.

I would hire someone that knows what they are doing. PCPro you dload the database then log into PCPro with default IN password and username. You should then be able to see the passwords.

Ah! The mystery revealed. I got it, thank you. Was able to view the existing configs fully using that logic. Made myself a pcp backup immediately.
And...yeah, lol. There are a million configuration options. Definitely not for the inexperienced and untrained to go tinkering around with.

I actually DO have a mini project that I might need to get done in the next few months. Would like to see if it would be possible to link a satellite office back to this PBX via VoIP. Probably no more than 3 phones tops.
I read that this unit does support VoIP. Just not sure if it would require things that are totally no-go due to the EOL status of the unit.

Can you tell me whether it's in fact possible with this unit in today's times, and if so, are you capable and would you care to be paid to do said project?

Possible. Depends if your system has a VOIP card and available licenses. Being EOL licenses cannot be attained. The GOOD thing is that you can upgrade the system with a new CPU and keep all your old hardware. That card could then get additional licensing. IF you have a voip card and licenses then all you need is a VPN and some UX IP phones.

Hmm! Interesting option. I'll try and find out whether I have a VoIP card and licenses or not. I'm going to guess not given how long ago it was deployed.

Any guess about rough ballpark on new CPU + VoIP card + licensing? I'm guessing about 40-50 extensions including the VoIP adds. We have 8 trunks ( though honestly we could probably get away with 4 ).

The system is MFR discontinued. Anything you get in the way of hardware is on the secondary market. You cannot get licensing anymore.

I would find an NEC dealer that is local. You will need them. There are NEC dealers like everywhere so that shouldn't be an issue.
