Hello Everyone,

I have had the misfortune of being in between my service Provider AT&T and my PBX installer/service company on this, and hopefully someone can shed some light on the situation.

First off, I have been given access by the PBX service company to make changes to the system.

What I am trying to achieve is this, I have 4 trunk lines set up and would like the Caller ID when a call from one of these lines is made to show a specific number. (For argument sake we will say a 1-800 Vanity Number). The PBX Co. has said it's an AT&T thing, AT&T says its a feature that all PBX systems support. I have dug around and can't figure it out so I am asking here. Can someone lend a hand?

Not sure what a PRI is (quick google says something to do with a T1 which I know we do not have.) I do know that I can take a test set and clip on to the punch down and access each line individually.

Please excuse my ignorance of this topic as I have no background in it.

You have loop start pots lines. Can't be done by anyone other than the carrier with that type of line.

Posting your own number only works with Pri trunks and sip trunks

At&t probably won't post a number that is not on your At&t bill

There is no in-between on this issue. It WONT work on pots via the system. It looks like your pbx vendor and your At&t reps should look for a new line of work. This is BASIC stuff that they should both know.

Thank you.

I am glad to get a solid answer without one company/rep passing the buck back to the other.
