Hello,

I'm a beginner with SAP and I think that that I'm going to post a very very basic question, but I hope anybody will help me:

Last month an external enterprise performed an upgrade of our SAP system to 4.6c release running on Solaris 8. Now I found that the /usr/sap/trans filesystem is near to full, so we need to free space.

I've found that we have a lot of big files at /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in, and I think I've read anywhere that those are patches, etc.... but I don't really now. Are they?

Can I delete the contents of /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in without altering the SAP system? Is there any risk?

Thanks in advance. Bye,

Hi Jmiturbe,

You are correct that those directories are used for patches, so you should be able to delete them, unless you are busy importing any patches, or still wish to import them! It is proberbly wise to first check transaction SPAM and make sure that there are no packages in the queue, or still running (All imported packages need to be confirmed). Also check transaction SAINT and make sure that you are not busy importing addon products (I believe these also sit in the EPS\IN OUT LOG directory.)

Other than that look in your TRANS\DATA and TRANS\COFILE directory, these will proberbly contain the original data and cofiles for the patches, for 45B these are named RE45B??.sap and KE45B??.sap these can also be deleted.

As with anything you do, make sure you do not delete anything that you cannot get back! i.e. make a backup of the original patches. And make sure last nights backups for you systems went through! Rather safe than sorry! :)

Hope this helps,
MK83.
