The server was shut down accidentally due to power outage.
now i am not able to boot the server.
after running the configuration assistant it shows the following message

/usr is badly damaged or corrupted.reinstall the os or boot with -b option to repair.

how do i boot with -b option or is there any way i can repair the /usr

hi

you dont have to reinstall the os.all u have to do is:

1, boot the m/c through cdrom in the single user mode.
2, mount the respective partition in the directory "a" which is present in the root of the cdrom.

3, change to the directory /usr in the cdrom.
4, do a tar ie copying of all the dir and extracting in the directory where u want ( in this case it is "/a/usr").
5, also do a install boot block if necessary.

hope this wud be useful.
do get back in case of problems.
