Using VB code to update table entries

As someone who has just started writing modules in VB, I would like to see an example of code which will read the existing contents of a table and then modify certain values in one of the fields (i.e. the table has to be used in update mode).
HELP Has anyone got a sample they can provide (would this also work for putting new entries into that table ?)
