Is it at all possible to use the USB port in Qbasic? And if so, how? Thanks for any posts that would and could be of any help.

No, due the hardware differences between old and new PC's you can't use USB in pure QBasic. You will need native(machine, assembly) code procedure or external driver to interact with USB Host
