I'm just starting to learn Crystal Reports and am having trouble using the Parameter Field option.

I just created a simple report with some number IDs and a few names. I want to be able to choose a range of numbers to report on. My Access database contains primary IDs from 1 to 10. If I choose my parameter range from 1 to 5, my report still comes back with information for 1 to 10.

I know I have selected the right field to query on but it's just not working for the report. Am I missing a step?

Hm.. you know what, I didn't link my parameter to a field. But it seems like only the values I choose in the Select Expert (example {orders.order_no} in 3.00 to 11.00) are the ones that actually affect the result of my report. When I'm prompted to enter values, say 3 to 100, only values from 3 to 11 are returned still.

Is it possible for my report to generate results based on the value range from my parameter prompt and not the Select Expert?

Thank you for your help.
Peggy

Yes, you need to tie your parameter range field into your record seeltion formula. click on report, edit selection formula and you will already see the formula generated by the select expert. Replace or supplement that formula with one that is restricts your report to only those records that are in the range of your parameter. For example:
