A user here has two desks in different buildings.

He wishes the phone at both desks (seperate extensions) to drop into the same VM box.

First question is, how do I arrange this?

Next question, how would I arrange it to ring at desk 1, then desk 2, and then drop into the VM box (which would automatically happen, if assigned to desk 2, yes?)

Thank you!

First things first...
If you have an Audix voicemail system, create a voicemail box for the first extension and then put the second extension in the "Secondary Extension" field.

Secondly, you'll want to add a cover path in the switch for each of these stations. For the 1st desk, you'll want the first point of coverage to ring at desk2 and then go to voicemail. For the 2nd desk, you'll want the first point of coverage to be Extension 1 and the second point voicemail.

Remember, a call over gets to a cover path after it rings at the actual extension first.

Most importantly, when a call is following a coverage path, it will always go to the voicemail box of the orginal extension, not the extension that it cover's to. Meaning, if I call desk 1 and am not answered the system will follow coverage and ring me at desk 2. If desk 2 does not answer, I will follow coverage and go to voicemail. The system will put me in voicemail for Desk 1, not desk 2.

Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you need more explanation.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if the user has two desks, why not just bridge/abridge the primary number on the secondary phone and then not have to change voice mail/coverage/etc. I have multiple bridges of my extension in various location where I might be sitting.

Another option would be to have the station at location #2 as a bridged appearence of the station at location #1. That way, only one number is dialed, but it will ring at both desks.

I've used this "work around" successfully in a few different situations.

Here is something else you can do to use one mailbox for two extensions. In the Intuity, create a mailbox on the primary extension. Then go to "ch auto r", which will bring up a table. In the first column (incoming dialed number) put in the secondary extension number. Then in the bus & hol columns, enter bus4 and hol4. Then under the day & night mailbox columns, put in the primary extension. What this does is says any calls the Audix receives on the secondary number will go into the primary mailbox. Hope this helps.

Seems to be a dulplicate post on this topic. I suggested the same as cathyd above in the other one. It is the best way of doing it.
