Our managing director doesnt want to use the network and logs on to his machine as a local user. Thus, he isnt logging on to the network. However, he wants to use the network printer.

Is there anyway I can allow him to do this?

Any help much appreciated.

hi,
you can give permission on the printer for everyone and he can map to this printer Eran

Thanks.

I'll try this. We've been trying to go through the add printer wizard but its not showing up. I'm not sure it will show up if he tries to map either but i'll give it a go.

He should install the printer software locally and connect to it by IP, rather than trying to connect to a share that's been created on another server. To connect directly to the printer over the network won't require a network logon.

Basically you would be setting up the printer on his system in the same way that you'd set it up on the print server.

Is he a member of the admin account on the local user? Also, why doesn't he want to log onto domain. If you're running AD, he's missing out on a lot of things. Explain to him, if he logs onto the domain, it doesn't matter what w2k computer he logs onto, he'll be able to access things, unlike logging on locally where you need a local account. Glen A. Johnson
