Using Polycom Nortel "direct connect" on MICS - need ATA or no?

So I have not used the "soundstation 2 nortel direct connect" polycom's before. according to the ad online it eliminates the need for an ATA. Well, I hooked mine up and it does not provide dial tone...7208 works fine at that extension so it is a good DN/wiring. It is on a MICS 0x32 - I am wondering if I DO need an ATA or if I have it programmed wrong.
There is surprising little info online about it other than how to use it. Seems it shuold be plug and play. anyone used these before?
 
yeah, I tried intercom and tried pool a and tried line 4 also, still never got internal DT even.
 
Sounds like you might have the PBX version which will not work on Norstar.

SoundStation2 Direct Connect for Nortel - for Succession/Option PBX's
Norstar Conferencing Unit by Polycom - for Norstar

Analog Polycom devices need an ATA.

Suggest you go the analog route:
