I am looking to try and configure CallManager 3.1.3a so that calls can be made to/from a PC using NetMeeting. Can anyone give me some configuration advise for CM and PC, or point me at any documentation on how I can achieve this?
Doesn't seem to be that easy for me. I have already created a Device - Phone entry selecting H.323 Client as the Phone Type on CallManager. A DN has been assigned in the correct partition/CSS etc. and the device associated with the required user account in Global Directory (with account enabled for CTI control).
I'm not clear how you set up NetMeeting. I've set Audio up to be CCITT u-Law8.999Khz (in 'Tools - Options - Audio - Advanced') , 8-bit Mono.
Under 'Tools - Options - General - Advanced Calling' I have selected to use a gatekeeper, where I have entered the IP details of the CallManager.
The device in CCM does not register. Is there a more detailed guide anyone can point me at that cover the complete configuration of CCM and the Netmeeting software on the client PC so that I can use NetMeeting to make and receive calls to CCM extensions, i.e. in the same way Cisco Softphone works? Cisco softphone v1.3(3) is working fine by the way.
I have never set up a netmeeting PC as a H.323 client. Here is one way that I have done it.
Create a H.323 gateway in CCM and place either the IP address or the hostname of the PC. Create a route pattern for the DN that you are wanting to assign the PC and point that DN to the gateway.
On the PC select Tools->Options and click on the advanced calling button. THere will be a section at the botton for Gateway settings...check the box and type the IP address of your CCM. Now when you dial the DN from the IP phone your PC shoudl ring and if you dial a number from your PC the phone should ring (based on your CSS).
Thanks for that. Followed advise and I can now make and receive calls from NetMeeting.
However, I'm still keen to see if there is a way of adding a NetMeeting client as a normal device. My objective is to allow staff with a desk phone to be able to use NetMeeting while at non-VoIP offices or at home over broadband connections. This will need the same extension on both phone and PC. The use of a route pattern will stop this working.
I have achieved this "extension sharing" with Cisco SoftPhone, but I wanted to look at NetMeeting i) to reduce license costs, and ii) allow people to use a home PC without the IT department having to get involved in support of company software.
The last post has been a great help to get this working for voice trials. Can anyone shed any light on how to get NetMeeting configured with CCM as a device? I couldn't get CCMUSER's advise to work.
You can keep that and allow you clients to connect. If you use the host name of the PC and it is in DNS it should allow you to use it in the way you are describing.

After I set up netmeeting as H.323 gateway, and configure route pattern with a DN. Netmeeting can not receive call. When it made a call, softphone can accept but netmeeting didn't know the other side already accepted.
using the h323 client configuration works just fine you just have to reset phone in the callmanager phone configuration. Remember your dealing with h323.
