Hi everyone: We've added several extensions to our UCx, and there are a few users who would like to have push-button access to extensions as well as see the extension's status. The native buttons on the 1230 ip sets don't provide enough buttons (we use 4 of them for incoming lines). They could use the built-in receptionist console, but the person who handles most of the phone calls would like push-button access to extensions and status indicators. After doing some research, it looks like I could cascade up to 7 key expansion modules (NTYS22AA70E6) to add extra buttons. I could cascade up to two 18 key LED modules (NTYS23AA70E6). This was on BCM, however.
I see that I can add a KEM in the Nortel properties of each extension, but it looks as though I can only add one module to each phone (either a 12-key LCD or an 18-key LED). Is that correct? How do these modules connect to the phone itself? It looks like there's a little pigtail ribbon-like connector that plugs into the prongs at the bottom of the phone. The module gets its power from the PoE connection, so no extra power, right?
Thanks for the help everybody!
