hey all

I'm new to Crystal Reports and I haven't been able to figure this out. How does one use information gotten from one database to find and then display info in another?

More explicitly: I have a userID from the database i want info from, but rather than display the ID, i would like to display the userName, which is stored in a different table.
How/can this be done?

thanks in advance

"ultimately, 's irrelevent"

Toiu need to add both tables to your report. As soon as you do that, Crystal prompts you on how to link the 2 tables. In your scenario, UserID would be an ideal link, then it is simply amatter of dragging the field you want on your report.

Formula fields between 2 tables work much the same way, just grab the field object you want and write a formula with it. It does not matter which table the field object comes from, provided that you can establish a link between the 2 tables.

If you have trouble establishing a link, we need to fast foward your learning curve into subreports. Lets hope that does not happen, but if it does please post here with the details. Software Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine
