Hi,

Can you use Illustrator to do designs and text for cutting to a Roland Vinyl Cutting Machine?

Cheers

Hi,
when I had my sign business I used to use Corel Draw for sending cutting info to my Roland Plotter / cutter but I can't see any reason why Illustrator won't work. As long as you define the appropriate colour for the outline, it should work.
Best of luck.
Pete

I use pretty much anything to create my artwork - freehand 10 or MX, InDesign, Illustrator 10. Then I save it as an eps and open it up in Illustrator & save it down as Illustrator 5.

Works perfectly when imported into the program our cutter uses. They have had problems if the eps was saved as a higher version. Fortunately they let me send them a test to make sure everything would work before I got too much work done - just in case.

I agree with Tad... I'd send them a test file to make sure they can open it. I have sent Illustrator files to sign and banner companies and they can all use them (except for some that only have CAD programs). I don't know about your specific machine though.
