Unlike the Partner ACS, which has specific programming to accommodate up to (2) door phones, the Merlin Magix does not appear to have any.

My thinking would be to configure any door phone extensions on either a T/R module or ETR module as Hot Lines.

My understanding of how Hot Lines work is that once a single line phone (used with Hot Lines) is activated, the extension will dial whatever is found in the first entry of the extension's Personal Speed Dial list.

Having said that, is it possible to have a door phone signal more than one extension (say maybe 10) so that more than 1 user can communicate with the door phone? [ponder]

MM you can use a Partner door box as a hot line , but if it is a merlin door box it needs the controller, 2 different boxes.
Dexman what box do you have ?

Yes, I forgot.

I actually used a Partner one on my Magix, but it was so long ago that I forgot it was a Partner.

The Partner one is the one to use on a T&R Extension.

I really forgot, 'cause I was the one to talk Bell Labs and Marketing into approving such use for the Partner one.

But that was many years ago....

Actually, the door phone is a Partner door phone.

I've been working on this further and have discovered a few things:

If I configure Ext 61 as ETR and direct dial Ext 59, the phones do ring as I hoped they would.

I can program "59" in Personal Speed dial position #1 for port 61 when the port is configured as an ETR, but if I switch the port to T/R and then back to ETR, the entry disappears.

I'm starting to wonder if this is going to work. [ponder]

For some reason, when port #61 is configured as a Hotline, I can't get past the system dialtone. it may have something to do with the way I am trying to enter extension 59 into Personal Speed Dial slot #1 using a single line telephone.

I'm going to work on this for another 30 minutes and check back. [smile]

I now understand why CPE vendors need to have the patience of Job.

Somehow, repeating the same procedure I've been using for the last day or so, I now have the arrangement working properly! [banghead]

I need a vacation from my vacation! [hammer]

I want to thank Merlinman, Cvrbob and HiDesert for their assistance on this. I'm going to take a break from the Magix (for a little while anyhow [bigsmile]) and try to digest all of this new knowledge.

Don't digest too much, 'cause your headache will change to a belly ache.

Trust me, I have done that...

[rofl2] When it comes to learning the Merlin Magix, I'm starting to think that the words "Small doses" are best heeded. [rofl2]

Thank you again Merlinman. You, TTT and the rest of the techs are tops! [bigsmile]
