I am new to programming and Dbase. I have dbase5 and would like to know how I can use it in Windows 98. Every time I try to it say "Cannot write to a read-only file" and "Dbase initialization error". Any help would be most appreciated.

I am using db5 with all the windows os versions (from 3.1 to Me)and it works fine. Can you specify your HW, ram, etc?
