Our team leader told me to use collection in VB for reading a file, so that no need to read again and again from file and We can store the file, line by line in collection.

But I don't know anything about collection. Can anybody help me to use collection.

Thanks

Hey Bob. Pronounce scrrun out loud. It's a fun word to say. [bigsimle]

^^

Must depend on particular accent's :p

Like in my city's particular dialect of English, the following all sound similar:

"Mr. Cool"
"Mystical"
"Miss Tickle"

And, Tell your team leader to get over the collection idea.

UNLESS, there is another issue here with accents. Perhaps he said "use a connection" and you thought he said "collection".

I can see some sense in reading a file using a ADODB. Definitely a huge timesaver to use the ADODB.Connection object :)

I wonder if you might show your team leader this thread, VBH. Maybe he'll stop on and explain his position for us, since we don't really understand it too well.

If I show this thread to my team leader, he will throw me out.
I explained these things to him, but he said that collections are dynamic and has lots of functions of its own and we can write or read into a file as an object by creating a structure or class. Any how I know array can also do it but I thought may be that is a chance for me also to learn collections.

Thanks a lot for all your comments, if I get any chance to show this thread in a latter stage. I will surely show him.

Sounds to that your team leader doesn't even know what a dictionary is.....

Greetings,
Rick

Just wait until he has VB.NET to play with, where you have Queues and HashTables as well as ArrayLists.

(but no binary trees!?!)

I was only kidding. I had kinda gathered that he was not really very open to the idea that he doesn't already know everything.
