Attempting to download firmware files to test in production environment phone by phone. Working on Avaya CM 6.3 Working with firmware files for 9611 & B189 version 6.6 & with new settings file May 2016. I have done ip-node name for tftp server. I have initiated command 'change tftp-server' with tar file in question. I get return error message 'file STatus: TFTP error: "File size larger than 100kb" ' (see attached)

I have uploaded by tftp a bin file to the CLAN designated in 'change tftp-server' command. However, when I indepently try and upload the .tar file I get a invlaid file error message.
QUESTIONS: Is this command still relevant for .tar firmware files?
Can .tar files be downloaded to individual phones for testing in production environment before deploying into main production for all phones?

You have to download the .bin files to the phones.

old 4600s use TFTP, but I think that CM command is more to download card firmware or digital station firmware to a cabinet and update those components.

A DHCP and HTTP server would probably be more in line with what you need to update those phones.
