I am wondering if there is any simple way to get ARCServeIT v6.61 SP2A running on Windows NT 4.0 to backup open files on remote NT 4.0 servers that are running the Open File Agent v6.61?
The problem I'm having is that some of my users are here late at night and may have files in their home directories open at the time that the backup job runs. When ARCServe goes to back up the open file on the remote server it returns an E3406 message, even though I have the open file agent running on the remote server. If I open the OFA console, select the remote server that houses the home directories, and specifically add one of the files it has problems with to the list of files it should pay special attention to (without changing any of the default options) it works fine. However, this simply is not a feasible solution. Is there some global setting in the OFA that I am missing, or is this just the way the OFA works with remote backups?
I should also mention that the server that houses the home directories used to perform its own local backups and the OFA worked perfectly then.
Any help/guidance that anyone could provide would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
