I have been attempting to use an HP710c as a shared printer on an NT network. The printer is visible on the network. Using Add Printer to set up a network printer copies the driver files to the local machine... but it won't print.
Any ideas would be welcome.
after it is installed, shared and working on the local machine, "surf" to the computer through network neightborhood and double click on the printer share. Answer yes to "do you want to install"
I have a HP722 working on my desk with this method. If this does not work, you can always install the WINNT HP550c drivers. . .
When you go to the NT machine and share the printer out you need to add the drivers for win95 in the sharing . In sharing options a box comes up with sharing stating drivers for other operating system clients - highlite the win95 listed option then when you hit ok it will ask for win95 driver disk -stick in hp driver disk and browse for win95 directory probably under a directory called drivers on CD may be under win95PS for post script ** may be able to use win98 cd drivers for hp may be on it ** . If you may have problems with win98 clients put cd in client machine ** may be able to use win98 cd drivers for hp may be on it ** when it asks for drivers or select have disk when adding printer if no cd rom drive on client copy driver cd onto server and share it to client or share cd drive on server out and select this when have disk option is selected . Have not done this myself for a HP722 but I did a similair setup for a HP 2100 TN with win 95 and win 98 clients and it is working . Hope this give you something to go on .
