Hi,

I'm using a fixed length txt file as a data source in a report.

The problem I'm having is that when I add fields from the file, crystal is using the first line of data as titles.

Is there a way of preventing this other than manually inserting a title line into the file?

Regards,

Drew

How are you using the text file, with the CR odbc text driver? If so, recent versions have a selection called Column Names in First Line which should NOT be checked in your case.

I would suggest that you create an ODBC connection using the Microsoft Text Driver, it has options as the whether the file has a header and has a guess mode to help predefine the fields.

Thanks for that, all that needed doing was to alter the options in the ODBC connection.

Works great now.

Thanks for the help.
