Help!
I have a UK spec 4 wire domestic telephone (RJ12 I think). I'm trying to use it with a 2 wire RJ11 wiring system that is installed in my current house.

The phone sort of works, but with two problems:
1) It doesn't ring
2) It doesn't hang up

It has been suggested to me that it should work with a 0.1uF capacitor between two of the pins, but which two?

All help appreciated, thanks in advance,
Jeffers.

I don't know anything about 4-wire domestic phones or capacitor's but a standard 2-wire set up uses the center pins on the modular jack. What's so cool about this phone that you can't just pick up a $20 set that will work properly? Just curious.

Hi, I dont know the rj11 pinouts but the normal UK plug is as follows.

pin colour function
1 black reserved
2 white 'B' leg
3 green Shunt (ringer)
4 blue earth (used for recall only)
5 red 'A' leg
6 orange reserved

Bob^^

Thanks both.
Actually, there's nothing so special about the phone (although it's a very fetching color), it's just that its mine! I'm not gonna spend too much time getting it to work, but thought I'd have a play.

Regards,
Jeffers
