Hi,

I'm in the process of setting up SBS2003 on a new server. A few days a go I created a few test accounts and the test users appear in the GAL fine.

Yesterday I created 10 real users and none of these are listed in the GAL????

If I use OWA I can search and find the 10 real users but not in Outlook 2003/2000.

I have logged on as the users (OWA and Outlook) and sent test messages to all the accounts - no joy. Also one of the test accounts I deleted and purged is still listed in the GAL.

I'm sure this is something silly that I've missed or overlooked but it's really annoying me - Please Help!!

Just read a thread about disabling "Cached Exchange Mode" on the client.

That has cured it!!!

check permissions on the OU where the users are listed. The recipient update service is what adds/removes users to the GAL, but if the RUS doesn't have permissions it won't run correctly.

You can probably find the correct permissions on MS KB.
