Hello,

I've created a service to run on my goldmine server (version 6.5) that checks for an XML file, and when it finds this XML file, it uses the information in it to update the Users.dbf file with a new user. I'm trying to sutomate the process of creating new users. But of course no RECID is created using this method. Does anyone know if the RECID's in the User.dbf file are actually used, and if so, does anyone know how the RECID's are created, and if I can write a script in VB that'll create a relevent RECID.

I'm using Visual Basic/Visual Studio 2005 to create my service

Thank you for your help

Hi

Yes the Recid is used and among other things is used for the synchronisation process. (By the way if you are using a process outside of GoldMine to update any tables the updates will not synchronise)

In order to create the recid correctly you need to use the GoldMine API to create the new record.

You can get a copy of the API guide using the following link (its at the bottom of the page)

Hope this helps.
