I've got several users who cannot delete files moved from their old NT workstations to new XP Pro machines. I found a precise mention of the problem by searching the forum, but there was no further mention of it and there seems to be no way to contact the person who posted it - bummer, he posted in Feb and I'll bet he's found a fix by now .
Users try to delete a file. There's a LONG pause, then they get a message saying that they cannot delete because the file is in use. This happens with files on their local hard disks and on network volumes. It happens from within applications (Word, Excel) when they try to save a document and from explorer when they try to delete it with no applications running. Shift-delete makes no difference.
