Users cannot change their passwords.

I've had 2 or 3 calls about users, who get notified that their password will expire in x ammount of days. Do they want to change it.
They click yes, put in the required information, but when they hit okay, another pop-up comes up and tells them "You cannot change your password"....

Any thoughts? I've never seen it before. I checked the policies and everything is in order.
 
What o/s system are these users running on their workstations?
 
I am assuming that under "User Manager" and the profile of the users, the tick box "User cannot change password" is not selected ?
 
We're running NT 4.0 Workstations. Everything in User Manager is set correctly. I looked in the check boxes, and in the policy section. It's bugging the crap out of me.

I've seen this with 98 workstations, but not NT ones. No solutions - just a suggestion - have you tried resetting their password in User Manager (with user must change at next logon) & seeing if they can do it then? Have these users tried changing passwords on more than one workstation?
 
Just want to make sure that the users are setting the password to something that fits in with the policy of you domain.. eg length, complexity etc
 
As of the moment, they can change it if I set it up to prompt them, but they cannot do it themselves.
I'll double check that they are using correct format, but four users per day in two days seems weird.

I have issues with my 95 and 98 workstations not being
able to change their passwords. I am interested in a fix as well.
