Can I customize a descendant userobject in powerbuilder ?
I have been inheriting userobjects from a base ancestor in this order pfc_u_tabpg -> u_tabpg -> u_tab1 -> u_tab2 .
I want to add a control in u_tab1 .
Any help on this topic is greatly appreciated. Thank you .

In short, yes.
You can't remove an ancestor's control in a descendant object but you can add them. In your example the new control would then be available in u_tab2. It's generally a good idea to regenerate all descendants after modifying an ancestor.

Thank you matt for the quick reply.
Actually I did the same you wrote. But I am getting the error message- System error / error number-23 Cannot assign object of type 'ctrlname' to variable of type 'ctrlname' .
I am kinda stuck at this point. Any idea ? Thanks

You get this when you save the item or when you try to regenerate it? You may have to do a full build on the entire application.

Saving the window is fine. I got the error message when I run the application through the powerbuilder and take the screen which contains the descendant object.
Thanks matt!

The problem solved by fully rebuilding the application. Thanks matt for the help
