Hi folks! Is there a tool to monitor the time wehn users logon and logoff to an AD-Server. It would be perfect if the tool could also monitor the "idle-time" of a clinet-machine - meaning the time which the user don´t work (over the network) with the machine but is connected to the network.

thanx for help
Harry

you can get the logon information from the event viewer of the AD server if the auditing on teh server is enabled, but I might suggest using the logon and logoff script functions to find out when they logout. You don't want the event viewer to get too full if youhave a lot of users! It's best to pipe all the information to a text file or somethign you can check once in a while.

Good luck!
Chris

Harry,

Would you be open to using a third party tool to accomplish this task?

Of course - I assumed to use a third party tool to do this.

Lakeside Software's SysTrack 3.1, is a "collection" of tools (with one UI) that monitors resources across all Windows platforms, without putting a strain on your network!

One of our most useful features is the ability to track user activity. SysTrack can audit user logging in/out times, which applications they accessed while logged in, for how long, session history, websites they visited, and gain the ability to shut down unauthorized sites or applications.

If would like additional information about SysTrack or to see a demo of the software, please contact me.

Good luck!
