I have a user on our Meridian Option 11 system who cannot forward any calls to other extensions using the recall button.
This has apparently only happened very recently and no changes have been made to my knowledge that would affect this.

I have tried different handsets - just standard handsets.
Also, this particualr phone is one of a few that connect to the system via our network cabling so they use an rj45 converter. I have confirmed this is working also.

Any thoughts what is stopping the forwarding of calls?

Andrew

Your title says transfer, but you describe forwarding. Which is the problem?

Post the TNB if it is a forwarding issue, we could guess all day but the TNB will tell us what the phone will allow or disallow.

Just my use of words I guess. Didn't think there was a difference between transfering and forwarding a call.

Problem is:
User answer phone, the caller then asks to speak to Mr X on Ext Y, she cannot put the caller through.

Will ppost TNB shortly though.

There is a big difference in our world between forwarding and transfer, what you describe now is transfer.

What happens when you say she cannot make the transfer? Does she get a fast busy, or is the transfer key missing? What type is phoneset is it?

OK :)
The phone is a standard analogue handset (type 500?)
The key used is 'recall' on these handsets. When she tries to transfer with this key nothing happens at all.
No busy tone, no dead line. It just doesn't do anything. It is most strange. I assumed it was a faulty handset but tried others too.
I have been assured it used to work and have no reason to not believe the user.

Shall I still post the TNB?

occasionally 500 set type tele's have switch settings on the underneath of the phone check if these have the correct settings

I remember on some 500 sets (was in a hotel) you had to program those buttons to do what you wanted them to do, programmed on the phone itself, other than the XFA I'm not sure.

I will check the settings on the phone but I have tried alternative handsets and at least one I know works on another extension.
Here is the TNB print though for the extension with the problem:

Check the TNB of the receiving set also. Not only does the transferring set have to be allowed to transfer the call, but the receiving set may have to be allowed to receive a transferred call. I'm going back a few years, but we restricted certain phones from being able to receive a transferred external call.

When using a Link button (RECALL) you need to dial a code to tell the system what you want to do.

In the UK we have 2 types of recall, earth (ground) recall and timed break recall (TBR). There is normally a switch on the phone somewhere, underneath or on the side which switches between the two.

For earth recall you will physically have to cannect a ground wire to the telephone jack. It is normal in the UK to have TBR as it is much less hassle.

recall button? this still may be a euro or other lang problem.. i can't transfer or forward via a recall button. is that the same as a flash (50 mil open) button on this side of the pond?

the set is programed right, xfa allows transfer. cfw allows forward but usually you don't use recall, flash or the hook switch to forward.. just the ffc then the dest.

Yes, timed break recall TBR is the same as a flash button.

AJF2006 will definitely need to use TBR (flash) as the recall indicator. You will not want to start stamping down earth wires on data cabling.

Is this a very old system where the FALC card does not support TBR?

Is this OP11 in the UK?

Hi again and thanks for the further replies. yes I am in the UK so I assume the system is using the TBR method that is mentioned.
I did check the switches on the phone and it was set correctly for this - set to TB.
I have given the user a different phone extension which can transfer calls OK, so it must be a line problem but I still am not sure why.
Looking through these posts and the TNB settings it seems the original line was set to allow call transfers.
