Hi -

System: Crystal Enterprise 10

I am wondering if there is no way to setup the timezone of a new user account directly in the CMC?

It seems the only way to do this is afterwards in for example Eportfolio. But what if the admins want to this while creating a new user-account in the CMC so that the international users do not have to bother with?

Thx in advance - Chris.

From the LAUNCHPAD there is a tool called PREFERENCE MANAGER where you can set the PREFERENCES (including TimeZone) for each user.

APOS has a freeware tool that let you update PREFERENCES for all the USERS in one batch...and a paid tool that let's you do at the GROUP or MULTI-USER level.

Thanks for the APOS tip.

I know the PREFERENCE MANAGER from the Launchpad but I am still wondering why BO didn't implemented in the CMC in the first place.

I would like to add this feature to the CMC by myself but since it's wrapped inside this admin.cwr I don't see a way.

BOBJ doesn't seem to have a great grasp of the "real world" Admin challenges that are faced by CE managers.

I agree that they should allow more controlled user management via the CMC for most of the things that are currently considered "preferences". The interface can be so different depending on the preference settings that it makes it very hard to do tech support for clients if everyone has tweaked the look and feel of the eProtfolio to their own personal tastes.

In CE-10, we altered the ePortfolio CSP pages to remove access to the Preference button, and use the APOS tools to manage all our "Default Preference Settings". But since BO-XI's interface is not written in CSP, I'm not sure what we are going to do when we migrate in the Fall....

Yeah - customizing individual Eportfolios seems to be a quite often used solution.

The fact that CSP seems to be dying out (or is dead) since BO-XI doesn't make it any easier. In terms of migrating from customized running Eportfolio solution I guess there will be some effort needed to change the code in the JSP-Pages or whatever.
Anybody who had tried to get CE10 on Java running knows there is a complete JSP Eportfolio solution archived in this desktop.war I think. Easy changes like remove Button, adding one feature here or there should be managed quite same way like in CSP.

I don't know yet how BO-XI's "Eport" is implemented but soon I will have a look on it - this fall or sooner ;-)
