I'm have a MS 2000 Exchange server and I have a user running Office 2000 Outlook on a NT machine with the latest updates installed. Every once in a while he reports that he recieves emails that have half the text missing. Most of the rest of our office uses Win 2000 pro and even the few others that still use NT haven't reported having this problem. From my experience either emails go or don't go, or maybe they loose formating or don't send an attachment, but has anyone here had half sent messages? Size doesn't seem to be an issue, some messages that get cut in half are megs in size some are 15k and most of the time it doesn't happen at all. All other recipients of these emails get the full email, so it seems like this user's machine is randomly whacking messages. Any help would be greatly apreciated!

In my experience identical Office applications do not work identically on different Windows OSes. Namely Win98 vs Win2k, but it stands to reason that NT may affect applications differently as well. Doesn't make any logical sense, but I've seen it with my own eyes.

Ok, that doesn't really help you. What happens if this troublesome user checks his mail from another machine? Is there another NT machine with Outlook 2k he can test with as well? I can't imagine that it has anything to do with the server, since as you say other recipients receive the same message just fine. You just need to eliminate the variables one by one until you reach the same conclusion I have: upgrade him to Win2k. :)

Beleive me, there is nothing I would like better than to upgrade him to Win2K :) He uses NT because the software he writes / supports is going to be used on NT servers and he wants a separate machine to test his builds on before he makes a switch... I tried to tell him a compiler is a compiler and it should compile the same way no matter what OS your using but... Anyway, I'll get him to check his mail from a different machine. I also found out that although his Service packs and patches were all current for the OS, the patches for Windows 2000 Office were very behind. I'll get him to update them and give it a week or two and post back if he has a problem or not. Thanks for the advice.

Just wanted to leave a note to wrap this thread up. Jsd2003 made me think about the user checking his mail on another computer, and that reminded me that we have web based email set up. I told the user to check by means of the web (Instead of going through Outlook on Office 2000), and he was able to see the entire messages that were only half there in Outlook. (Obviously this proves without a doubt that this isn't server related.) We upgraded Office 2000 with all the latest with no luck or change in result. So we came to the agreement he would just use the web based email if the problem happens again so he can read the full messages. I'm still curious if anyone has experienced this and if they were able to fix it.
