I'd like to know how is it possible to restore a windows 2000 profile once it's been deleted? Any useful ideas will be appreciated. Thanks

have you physically deleted the users folder? If so you can use recover4all software to recover deleted files and folders. This type of software tends to eat up your cpu though.

Yes, I physically removed the profile by right-clicking on the My Computer icon, properties, user profiles, delete. Where can I get s/w that will allow me to recover the deleted user profile. Did you use recover4all s/w to restore a user profile before? Thanks

I think the profile folder should still be there- So jusr recreate the user with the same username and it should be fine. You can check to see if the profile folder is there under C:\Documents and Settings

A new user profile was created when I logged on again as that user I deleted and all the settings were gone.

Yes - original folder was deleted when you deleted profile. Ony chance would be data recovery software that could find and restore deleted folder. Longer you go on using machine, the less chance you have of recovery (as area occupied by original folder may be overwritten by new files - eg, new profile folder you've just created).

There are many data recovery apps - free one here:-
