user name change from admin phone?

Can you change the name on an existing extension from an admin phone?
This is common that people come and go and I want to know if you can and if so how to change a user name for extension XXX from an admin phone.

No you can't

If you are in basic mode....which hopefully you are not....you can do it from a 1408/1416/9504/9508 phone via system admin programming.

Speak to your maintainer, you should be able to access web administration & make these type of changes provided you have a suitable username & pasword.

If you are unsure if you are in standard mode or basic mode you can try feature 590. If in basic it will return some information about your system standard mode it will not. If you are in basic mode, as previously stated, you can from most of the newer model digital phones.

the phones are Avaya 1416. Running in standard mode.

Then no you can't from the phones(as previously stated). Web manager or IPO manager are the only ways to change user names.
