So I know how to tell what users are in a specific group, but is there a way to tell what groups a specific user is in? For example some way I click on "Sam" and can see that "Sam" is a member of group A, group B, a visitor on group C, and an owner of group D?

There is no way to do this out of the box. You may want to look at the 3rd party tool DeliverPoint to accomplish this (

Wow, MS totally missed the ball on that one! I can't believe that no one in the SP development team thought of that! Thanks for the idea on the 3rd party tool, however my SP site is hosted, so I don't think I'd be able to get the host to buy/install software.
