A new user has been added into the AD and for some reason when they log in and try to access a network share it pops up a login box. Typing in there user name and password dose nothing.

I’ve checked the user’s settings in ADUC and everything seems to be fine. He is a member of domain users and should be able to access the share. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,

P.

The user login info might be alright but the computer might not. Login as an admin and try to access your network, if not I would try to rejoin the computer to the domain. Check to make sure you dont have a duplicate computer name or IP on the network.

We've tried logging in as the user in multiple PC’s the result is the same. Other users can log onto the same PC’s and it works fine.

Maybe the user is inherting a deny permission from somewhere - which would automatically overwrite any permit permission. Go to the share that the user needs to access and go to security > advanced > effective permissions and enter the username. This will tell you what permissions the user has to the resource.

Hope this helps

There are no deny permissions set. I’m starting to wonder if this is actually and AD issue. The users are able to log in and work fine. They can access shares that are on 2k3 servers. The one program they are trying to access when they get this error requires them to connect to an old NT server. There are 2 NT servers left on the domain and they can not access shares on either one.
