Hi,

I have a user who keeps getting receipts like the one below;

Your message

To: Unknown
Subject:

was read on 28/04/2005 14:13.

***************************************************

I've researched as much as I can but need some help. I’ve check a few websites and the only thing half relevant I can find is This doesn't help.

Info:

This happens if mail is sent between the 2 different Exchange Organisations each using x400 addressing. My Clients are using Outlook 2000 & 2002 and I'm using exchange 5.5.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

JonB

Has the user actually sent the email ? Can you check in the sent items folder and see if anything has been checked. If you right click on the message and do properties it will give you some header information such as where message has come from etc. It sounds to me that it might be a hoax message where you haven't actually sent an email someone has got hold of the email address and is sending a message to make you think you have etc. As a test don't send any email from this mail account for a few days, if you carry on getting messages each day and you haven't sent any you know its a spammer.

Also you could disable the email client from sending a read reciept as well. Then carry on sending emails if you get read reciepts you know then if they are the real thing etc.

Thanks for the quick response,

My user is on vacation for another week so it'll give me the perfect opportunity to check this out. I'll post the outcome next week.

Thanks again PCmad,

JonB
