Hi

first time here, need some help...

running exchange 5.5 on an NT4 (SP5) server. I have around 25 Clients accessing this server mosting using Outlook 2000.

Strangest thing happening. User created subfolders, within their inbox, are disappearing?

Mailboxes do not have storage limits and I am guessing the datastore may be corrupt?

any ideas why this could be happening? Usually I can restore from backups but now my backups seemed to have failed also...the joys!

cheers

Hmm, first thing you want to do is SP your server and I am guessing if your using SP5 on your OS than your Exchange isn't patched to SP4.

Secondly you may want to look into what your virus scanning software is doing on both the exchange server and on the workstations.

Lastly, is it possible they are using offline settings? (.OST). They could be replicating incorrectly.

Hope that gets you started.

Hi

The OS is SP6 and the Exchange is SP4 so I think I am covered there!

I am using Norton anti Virus Corporate edition on both servers. Can you give a little more info as to what to look for here?

Yes he is using offline settings now but the problem also occurs with Users use do not us offline settings so I am guessing this may not be the problem in this case!

Thanks

Ya know? Archiving, yes. I betcha Zelandakh is correct.
Check it out and see whats happening, easiest way is to search for *.pst.
Outlook names it archive.pst and places it ump-teen folders deep in Documents and Settings under the users profile.

Hi,

If the archiving throws up nothing, check out the following
1) are you getting any errors in the event logs?
2) can you restart the services?
3) do all services start normally?
