Hello forum,
The database I've created houses potential candidate information that is used by our recruiter team. I need to create a hyperlink to a candidates resume (Word doc) from Access 2000. I was hoping to be able to create a field in my database where a recruiter would click a button, be able to navigate to that person's resume, click OK, and then have the path to that resume saved in that field as a hyperlink, later being able to click the hyperlink and open the Word doc. Any help on this would be great..

TIA..

Hi kchard,

I have an example of how do this at [/color]
The files to look at are CommonDialogAccess97.zip or CommonDialogAccess2000.zip select "Insert Hyperlink Version to Selected File" from the Switchboard.

Let me know how you get on.

Thank you for your time on this.. However, I'm looking at your database sample and I'm clueless as to how this will help me. If I'm supposed to copy and paste one of these modules, how do I access it?

When I attempt to answer questions, I assume that the person placing the question knows how to get around an Access DB.

You really ought to learn the basics before attempting VBA. Sounds to me that you are trying to run before you can walk.

F11 will open the Database Window to give you access to all the DB objects.

In a Form, from the Menu select View>> Design View, double click on a control, this will open the Properties Window where you will be able to view all the control's Formats, Events etc.

Hope this helps.

Bill

PS. Get yourself a Que or Sybex manual like "Access for Beginners". In hour or two you'll be a different person.

I wasn't aware that I was asking a VBA question. Thank you for your time.

Hi kchard,

I wasn't being funny in response to your previous question, I was trying to give what I thought was a bit of useful advice.

This Forum is here to help Members like yourself to learn, so carry on asking questions, as many as you like.

I'm not the best at explaining solutions, so tend to give examples instead on my "site".

I wouldn't have attempted to answer your question if I knew I was going to have to explain how to incorporate it into your own DB, because I'm no good at that, no reflection on you whatsoever, we all have to learn.

All the best.

Bill
