User Cannot find control unit

We have just upgraded to IPO 500 and I have rolled out the new User4_2_44 Phone Manager package across all users.

We have a variety of environments including XP, Windows 7 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit.

Most installs have been fine but I have one user who is running Windows 7 64 bit who cannot find the system control unit either during installation or after. He has no other network issues so I am perplexed as to why this would happen.

I have tried rolling the version back to 4_2_31 and forward to 4_2_46 and still no luck, we have restarted between installs run reg cleaners and intensive uninstall packages and the problem still persists.

Any help would be great thanks.

Firewall is never on and we all use the same AV so its unlikely but I will ask.

I am only thinkikng a port issue I guess you can ping the PBX from the Win 7 Machine ?

Yeah ping works fine with no drops in packets.

It is a routing or firewall/AV issue.
Enter the IP address instead of browsing for it.

When he enters the IP it says cannot contact control units.

When he searches it doesn't find any control units.

I ran an open port utility on a working machine and on the problem machine and nothing is using the relevant ports.

He can ping the control unit from the problem machine but thats it.

No, same subnet, gateway everything is the same as all other PC's

Then i guess you need to try a clean install.
It really is not an issue with the program at all as it works on other PC's

Close the Phone Manager and do a netstat -a to check if the ports used by PM are in use:
Port 69 tftp
Port 50796 custom for IPO

start the Phonemanager with the -debug switch and check the debug file in C:\Users\Username\Documents\Avaya\IP 400\PhoneManager

Do a network sniff at the LAN port of the ip office and see if you receive packets from the client pc when PM is starting

delete the users PhoneManger Pro profile out of C:\Users\Username\Documents\Avaya\IP 400\PhoneManager

Seen corrupt profiles do silly things like this

This says enough, it cannot find the IPO.
So something is blocking it.
Disable AV and run this firewall tool:

Then try again.

A turned off firewall has giving me issues before and after running the firewall tool fixed it for me.
He does not say that he tried it with the AV turned off.
That they all use the same AV does mean nothing at all, it is a huge assumption.

I know its not really related I have had an Alcatel system that the softphone uses port 80 to connect to the PBX. They have never had a problem on any machine in building windows 7, XP even vista!

They purchased two new Windows 7 x64 laptops and neither would connect. With Windows firewall off and all AV software disabled.

They only way we managed to get it to work weas to use switch the softphone to use port 443 HTTPS and then the softphone would connect and work perfectly

No luck with that, I think we will actually fully uninstall the anti virus and phonemanager again and start from scratch then run the firewall tool before we put AV back on just to be sure.

Thanks for all the replies guys I will update again next week when we have performed this.
