any body had trouble with users in Home loging on to a 2k network? (not a domain!)
when i add a new user to a machine i cannot see the shares on the server. user is added to server. share is everyone
also If you change a users password (on both machines) i can never get the maps back. I have to delete and recreate the account.
any help would be most appreciated!

Try this:
Add user to the "User and Passwords" section of Control Panel. The name has to be the same as the XP login name. Give user Administrative rights. See if this XP user can see and map to the Windows 2000.

If not, then on the Windows 2000 machine, In Windows Explorer, do a right click on the folder to share. Click on Sharing. Click on the Security Tab. Click on the Advanced button near the bottom left. Click on Add and scroll through the list for the name the XP user logs in with on the XP machine. Not the XP computer name. Then click on each box under the Allow column.

Do have a the same protocol installed and configured on each machine
(NetBEUI or IPX/SPX) and Client for Microsoft Networks installed and checked?

Can the Windows 2000 access the XP machine?
