I have a Notes user whose account keeps "dying". I have nuked and re-created the account several times the past week, and it will work for about a day before crapping out. She can access all the databases she has access to, but she can't access her own mail file. Even though when I recreate her account I also delete her old mail file, it still craps out after a few hours. All other accounts have no problems. Any insight as to the cause of this?

Assuming you are working with Notes R5...Silly question to ask you, but it might prove helpful. Have you checked the termination settings for the certification? If they were accidently set to terminate within a day, that might explain the problem.

You might try adding yourself as a manager to the ACL of the newly created mail file. That way, if it fails again for her, you might be able to get in. If you can get in, then I'd consider investigating the user.id file and the cert settings since they are unique to her.

Also, you noted that only her account is affected. Does this also mean that no other person's account was created after hers, or that others were created after her account but that it always fails on hers? If none other has been created, then I'd suggest creating a "dummy" account and see if it fails in like manner.

Yes, I am using R5. The Cert termination settings are as they should be - two years from creation date.

I have even gone into the file system and deleted every instance for that user in Domino and elsewhere, but it doesn't help.

I have created a couple of "dummy" accounts to see if they are similarly affected. I have had this occur on a couple of other occasions. One user I had to recreate a dzen times before it would quit dying after a few hours or a day. accounts created after that user came off without a hitch. so, there seems to be no pattern to diagnose from it.

I'll let you know how the dummy accounts work out.

Thanks for the help!

Just a thought - Since it sounds like she is being removed from the access conrtol lists, have you checked the administration request database to see if there is request in there to remove her name? Maybe look under "All Requests by Name" and see what is there for her.
