User account gone after logging off 1

Hi

I've never messed with user accounts in XP until now. I have just created a new user account for both the wife and Kids. Thats OK, but I clicked to "log off" from my administrator account, and now it's vanished. I tried Start / Log Off / siwtch user, but the "Administrator" account is not listed.

Can anyone help ?

When you create an account in addition to the default Admin account, this account automatically vanishes from the Welcome screen for security purposes.

Use Ctrl-alt-del, to get the normal login prompt, and type in the account info into the prompt. Administrator and your password.

When you say use CTRL-ALT-DEL, what do I do when the task manager opens ?
I tried the Shutdown /switch user, but it's not there.

Sorry if the answer is obvious...

From the Welcome screen. Cntrl-alt del. not when you are logged in.

OK.
That worked great.
I got back into my Administrator account

Thing is, after restarting once more, the "Administrator" account still is not listed at the welcome screen.

Can this be rectified, or is there any other way around it other than having to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del every time I start the PC ??

Hi,
AFAIK, it will never show that account again without that method.
Instead, create an account for yourself and add it to the Administrators group





To Paraphrase:"The Help you get is proportional to the Help you give.."

You can force the admin account to appear at the welcome screen, but you'll need to go into the registry and change key. Are you comfortable with going into the registry???

I've had a go at the registry mod

It works fine.
Upon restart, the Welcome screen displays ALL users, including Administrator.
