Hi,

is it possible to send an Email from Lotus Notes, which includes a Document Link to a Notes database, to Outlook without losing the docmunt link?
During my tests the doclink only appears as simple text and the link function is lost.

We have to migrate from Notes to Exchange and I will have a lot ot problems, íf our workflows don't work anymore.

thanks

I dont think the links to the databases will work; effectively the Notes link is pointing to a doc in a different database, but within the same software environment.

Sending the link to Outlook would mean that outlook would need to be a Notes database client to be able to view that notes database document and I dont think that's available for Outlook as Ms would prefer people to use Exchange; which doesnt really have a database server in it.

From what you have said, it appears that someone may have made the decision to change email systems, without investigating other implications sufficiently.

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news

Unless the Notes DB's are web enabled, you are out of luck. Doclinks only function within the Notes client environment. Otherwise, you can use URL links to specific documents in web-enabled DB's.

I agree with PeteH, it sounds like someone pulled the trigger on the decision to migrate from Notes to Exchange without fully understanding the ramifications of that decision.

One more word of warning - if your management team thinks that they can easily replace the existing Notes DB's in a MS environment they are sadly mistaken. Outlook workflow is a joke. I had someone on my old team try to create a workflow application using Outlook Forms last year. After 1 1/2 months they still didn't have a functioning prototype. I went home and created the same application using Notes in less than 40 hours. Notes can't do everything, but it is great doing workflow apps!
