I am running into the 10 user login limit with Windows 2000. I need a simple file server that 25 XP Pro users can be mapped to, and hopefully is simple to navigate, but have no idea where to begin...I would really appreciate any help getting started.

This can be done easily. If you use Novell/Suse or Red Hat, just make sure you install the Samba Server software and then config the Samba server to match your current workgroup settings. That should work fine. The other distros may have similar setups, but I haven't worked with them, so I don't know. Visit for more info.
