Hi all,

I'm having a problem with Networker 7.3.3, the issue is that when a backup request a tape, NetWorker labels a new one instead of using an appendable tape of that pool, i have the automedia management enabled.

Thanks for your help,

Much respect!

Sorry, but i don't understand the question as it is in contradiction with the headline.

If your description is correct, the question is whether the tape is really appendable. Or is it just not full but set to read-only. Please check using the mminfo command.

The issue is that in the library are new tapes and appendable tapes, Networker labels a new tape instead of using appendable tapes, the appendable tapes are only used when there aren't new tapes on the libary.

Thanks

Hello,

normal behaviour : Networker tries to keep data as long as it is possible, thus relabeling tapes when there are no more tapes usable.

Sorry denisfr, but to the best of my knowledge, this is not true. AFAIK, NW will reuse recyclable media of the same pool before it will label new ones. I agree so far that NW will only relabel them if it is in need for a new media.

@ Bayito87: If the behavior is true, this is a bug. But i actually doubt that - at least i have never heard of such effect. Can you post a media report for the pool in question?

Did you have configured your media pool to prefer a certain barcode pattern ?
