I have a sony PCV-RX581 PC. i didnt use their recovery disks and did a fresh install of xp pro sp2. for some reason my computer thinks my USB 2.0 ports are on the 1.1 standard- is there a way to fix this?

also whenever i start up the computer shows an "American Megatrends" logo and says "power supply is irregular" and makes me press "F1" to continue. is there a way to fix that?

I've never seen "power supply is irregular" before but it sounds like you might have a problem with your power supply giving out a reliable current. You'll probably want to replace that!

With regards to the USB ports, if you are sure they are USB2 then it will just be a driver issue. If you can find the motherboard model (most likely printed on the board itself) then you can download the USB drivers from the manufacturer's website.


Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

USB drivers are usually handled by Windows and not the manufacturer of the motherboard or PC. In fact, all of Sony's USB support in their Knowledgebase point to Microsoft KB articles.

Try to reinstall a driver for the usb ports. you may also have the wrong power supply or one that does not fit your PC.
