Hi

Does anyone know how the USB (slave) port on the HiPath 4000 V6 is used?

"A USB device interface is available for management. This interface is used to connect a service PC with an USB host-to-device-cable. There is no need to configure IP addresses etc.
Number of USB slaves: 1"

It seems as if Host USB Controller drivers are needed.

Did you look on the system DVD for the HP4K?

These drivers are not provided by Siemens, but rather they are down-loadable via the internet. The driver info is maintained in the Release Notes, the Service docs, and the Training docs. This USB port should only be used by HiPath 4000 V6 maintenance-trained personnel. It is merely an alternative to the server "console", which requires monitor, keyboard and mouse connected directly to the VGA and two standard USB ports respectively.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Hi Iamnothere/ donb01

Thanks for the prompt reply

Question: USB 1 looks like slave USB-controller. Is it supported at the moment? How can I use it?
Answer: This is made for Console (terminal emulation) access. It was released with V6 R1.10.0 for installation purpose. Please see the release notes for more detailed description

I have the course notes but cannot find where to get the drivers.
Unfortunately I don't have the release notes.

I don't have a monitor or keyboard at each site, finding an alternative. This could be the answer.

Are you trained on V6? If so, you'll need to contact your instructor via email. Non-trained techs should not be working with V6.

Even if you are trained, I cannot help you with this on a forum.
Sorry about that.

Iamnothere, it's okay thanks for trying, I will get the release notes. Not a big issue, I can lug around a mouse, monitor and USB image in the mean time.
